The son of former Philadelphia Eagles and Arizona Cardinals head coach Buddy Ryan, Rex began his career in 1987 as defensive ends coach for the Eastern Kentucky University Colonels football team. His first professional coaching position was as linebackers/ defensive line coach for the Arizona Cardinals in 1994. He’s also been a coach or coordinator for New Mexico Highlands University, the Cincinnati Bearcats, the Oklahoma Sooners, Kansas State Wildcats, and the Baltimore Ravens, taking home a Super Bowl XXXV ring with the 2000 Ravens team. In 2009, Ryan took the position of head coach for the New York Jets.
“Play Like You Mean It” is co-authored with former Sports Illustrated editor Don Yaeger who is a bestselling author of seventeen books and has co-authored the autobiographies of three former NFL players including “Never Die Easy: The Auto biography of Walter Payton.”
