About the Author
Dancing with the Stars professional dancer Karina Smirnoff has been ruling the dance floor since she first learned ballroom dancing at age eleven. She’s achieved international acclaim in multiple competitions and built a business around her talent. She released a line of fitness videos under her DanceFITNESS brand and runs a dance school in Los Angeles. Educated at Fordham University in New York, Karina has hosted segments for E! News, the TV Guide Network, and Extra and has appeared on Bravo, Good Morning America, The View, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and Hannah Montana, among others. She had roles in the films Across Grace Alley and Shall We Dance? and starred in Broadway’s hit sold-out shows Forever Tango and Burn the Floor. She currently lives in Los Angeles.
Lindsay Rielly is the president and co-founder of Continuum Entertainment Group (CEG), a creative agency that specializes creating and executing needle-moving pop culture moments that connect standout talent in entertainment, fashion, and consumer brands with their audiences. As a managing partner of CEG, Rielly oversees operations at the company, manages talent, as well as creates, develops and spearheads the production of all in-house projects. Since founding the company, she has helped jumpstart the careers of many actors and performers and pioneered a new model for client management through brand development and image enhancement. She lives in Los Angeles with her 6-year old son Royce.
Dancing with the Stars pro Karina Smirnoff shouldn’t have a difficult time finding Mr. Right. She’s a traffic-stopping, gorgeous international celebrity who bumps elbows with Hollywood A-listers, business and media moguls, professional athletes, and even sometimes your average cute boy next door. She and her striking (and similar-looking) manager and bestie, Lindsay Rielly, both enjoy vibrant and enviable careers. The two travel often and attend fabulous parties, encountering some amazing people along the way. Still, neither of them has made it down the aisle, despite their unwavering optimism, unrelenting effort, and wacky sense of humor. After years of scratching their heads wondering what they were doing wrong, they had an epiphany. Hundreds of dates and several unfinished engagements later, the pair finally realized: It’s not us. It’s them (at least some of the time!).
If these two can’t laugh at life as single women, who can? In this amusing, empowering, light-hearted book, the BFFs chronicle some of the zaniest dates they’ve been on—the ones single women everywhere can relate to. Case in point: Karina dated a guy who forgot his wallet three nights in a row! Who hasn’t dated The Clinger-On, The Tight Wad, The Jealous Tyrant, The Cheater, and The Wanna-Be-Straight Guy, right? These women certainly have. Now, along with quips and comments from other celebs and other girlfriends, Karina and Lindsay’s most outlandish stories, favorite pickup lines, and craziest dating moments (and some endearing ones too) are chronicled in the pages of We’re Just Not That Into You. And for the guys out there: Karina and Lindsay have put your perspective in these pages too, so lessons abound.
No matter who you are or where you live, the hilarious tales in We’re Just Not That Into You will definitely make you feel better about your dating life. It’s a must-read not only for anyone who has laughed so hard at a date-gone-wrong that she’s actually cried but also for anyone who wants confirmation that the most ridiculous dating mishaps happen to famous people too, not just mere mortals.
