About the Author:

Cary Gray was born in St. Louis, MO in 1988. He was the second child of four and fully embodies the middle child spirit. Growing up, Cary built tree forts, rope swings over the small lake in his backyard, and in his teen years, large trebuchets (like catapults) capable of launching 9-lb rocks over 500 feet. As an adult Gray still spends much of his time in nature, where he prefers to be and to sleep. He has lived in a hammock 80 ft up in a redwood in California, and camped on a boulder in the middle of the Kootenai river. He spends his time writing, creating artwork, and giving talks to schools. He works to advocate for preserving natural spaces and biodiversity, as well as a healthy lifestyle.

About the Books:

Luno! A Children’s Book Drawn by Foot

Determined to prove that anything is possible, Luno embarks on an epic journey to South America–by unicycle! Along the way, Luno learns the value of seeing and taking care of our world, and the triumph of overcoming adversities. Illustrated entirely by foot, Luno! tells the story of the limitless human spirit and that anything is possible you set your mind to.

My Uncle is a Wild Beast

Lucy’s family insists that Cary is just her uncle, but she knows better. She knows he’s really a snarling, stomping, stinking wild beast. Or is he? My Uncle is a Wild Beast teaches children the true importance of individuality. All people have their own stories and a reason for the way they behave. There’s more to someone than meets the eye. This book reminds kids to be open and to love the weirdness in each other. After all, we can be both wild and loving.
