Kaling hails from Cambridge, Massachusetts, a first generation American of Indian born parents. A graduate of Dartmouth College, she was a member of the improv comedy troupe “The Dog Day Players” and the a cappella singing group “The Rockapellas.” She has appeared on Curb Your Enthusiasm and Saturday Night Live among others, and her first film role was in the smash hit comedy The 40-Year-Old Virgin. A co-executive producer and writer of 22 episodes of The Office, Kaling has been with the show for eight seasons.
