Former Vice President Dick Cheney will be making a special appearance with daughter Liz Cheney, attorney and former State Department senior official, at the Union League Club of Chicago later this month. Members and their guests will have the opportunity of hearing Cheney speak up close and personal about his career in public service and offer his reflections on current world affairs.
Cheney served as 46th Vice President of the United states from January 20, 2001 to January 20, 2009, and 17th United States Secretary of Defense from March 20, 1989 to January 20, 1993, among several other political offices held throughout his career since it began in 1975. Born in Lincoln, Nebraska, one of three siblings, he earned his BA and MA in political science at the University of Wyoming. Of interest to note, during the Vietnam War, Cheney avoided the draft, receiving five draft deferments. Who could blame him really; but perhaps he sees things differently now that it’s not his own derriere on the line?
The Union League Club of Chicago’s Authors Group event with Cheney will be held on Monday, September 19th, with registration sign in beginning at 11:30AM and lunch starting at noon. The Authors Group have been taking reservations for this event since early August, and only wait list room is available, but you can still register.
